12/31/2008: Today, the THVFD was selected as a recipient of the TargetSafety-Volunteer & Combination Officers Section (VCOS) Online Training Grant. This grant will provide THVFD firefighters with free access to several online compliance training courses beginning in January 2009. We encourage all THVFD members to take advantage of this great opportunity!

10/02/2008: Jocelyn Bucklew authored a successful grant to bolster our fire prevention efforts. This grant money will be added to her last fire prevention grant, and will go a long way toward the purchase of educational materials, equipment, and fire prevention week packets for the children at Ridgedale Elementary School.

It is also our pleasure to announce that the THVFD was awarded a MSA Chemical Detection Kit through the Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program (CEDAP) valued at $30,950.00. This marks the third consecutive year the department has been awarded equipment through the CEDAP program (2006 - Amkus Rescue Tool Kit; 2007 - PEAC-WMD Laptop/PDA Kit; 2008 - MSA Chemical Detection Kit). This Chemical Detection Kit will augment the department’s current hazardous materials response capabilities and should be in-service by next spring. The Kit contains (1) Proengin AP4C Set, (1) MSA Hazmat Colormetric Tube Set, (1) MSA Sirius Multi-Gas PID, AND (1) Aristatek Ruggedized PEAC-WMD PDA System.
